Willow Tree - Susan Lordi

The Willow Tree collection is a relatively new brand which started in the year 2000.  In this short amount of time the line has grown very quickly encompassing the sentiments that we most want to express.

The creator of these magnificent pieces is artist Susan Lordi who hand carves each original Willow Tree figurine.  Casts are then made from Susan’s original carvings and each are individually hand painted with softly washed colours ensuring the quality of each.

Using friends and family as models, Susan captures a wonderful moment in time or expresses a powerful feeling.  Each unique figurine is open to interpretation making them much more personal and allowing the viewer to decide its meaning.  Expressions can be seen through body gestures, a tilt of the head, a turn of the body or a placement of hands – each in a very simplistic, peaceful and elegant way.

Willowtree is a very intimate and personal line of sculptures which represent the virtues and sentiments that help heal wounds or bring us closer to loved ones.   These popular art forms beautifully express love, friendship, healing, hope, sadness, joy and many other emotions of a life well lived.
